The knitting calculator by Prym is an indispensable tool when knitting pullovers and other pieces of clothing. It can help determine pin gauges, count stitches and rows, and convert the desired amount of stitches and rows for any desired clothing size and yarn thickness. First, the amount of stitches and rows per 10 cm is calculated using the counting frame. Then the knitting calculator's slider can be set to the calculated value on a scale of 8 to 49 stitches per 10 cm. A viewing window directly shows the stitch and row count for lengths 1 cm to 100 cm.
The knitting calculator helps you determine the number of stitches and rows required for each project based on the desired size in centimetres.
It is extremely useful when you want to modify the instructions for binding off according to your tension.
EASY TO USE
Make a sample larger than 10 cm in size on each side.
Once completed, place the gauge on the sample, taking care to match the side and base with the angle of the gauge opening Prym.
Count how many stitches there are in width and how many rows in height in the 10 cm.
At this point, knowing how many centimetres the front of the knit should be wide, move the red cursor to the number of stitches that fit within the 10 cm of the sample made previously.
With this method, you can calculate both the width and length of the knitting.
For example, to make a jumper that is 62 cm wide at the front, if there are 19 stitches per 25 rows in the 10 cm sample, you will need to place the red cursor on the number 19 and you will see that there will be 114 stitches in 60 cm and 4 stitches in 2 cm.
Therefore, a total of 114 + 4 = 118 stitches will need to be cast on to obtain a width of 62 cm.
