Elastic thread is used to create a very distinctive gathered effect on fabric, with the option of stretching the fabric itself.
To achieve a good result, wind the lower bobbin normally using the normal automatic winding path.
Insert the wound bobbin into the capsule (for models with a horizontal hook, do not touch the tension screw on the capsule,
while for models with an oscillating hook, it is possible to tighten the screw on the capsule slightly. It is
normally advisable to purchase a separate hook to prevent the elastic from altering the tension of the capsule. Special hooks have
been created for certain machine models for use with thick yarns or elastic thread,
which is recommended if the elastic is to be used for long and continuous work.

Normal sewing thread is used as the upper thread. You can adjust the upper tension to increase the gathering effect.
The stitches used for this type of work are: a straight stitch with a very long stitch length, or an elastic zigzag stitch,
which is a zigzag stitch with straight stitch sections (this will create a beautiful smock-like effect).
